Before I am a professor, I am many other things, but first and foremost I am a human, which means I am constantly transforming, evolving, and trying to navigate my way through the complicated terrain that is life. Often this means I make mistakes and fail. Sometimes it means outside forces impede my way. But always it means I am striving to be the best version of all my “selves” that I can become. Academically, I have a BA from University of Cincinnati, MA from CSU Stanislaus, and PhD from Claremont Graduate University. I like learning about wilderness, ecology, the politics of everyday life, and sensory experiences. In my free time, I am a champion for public lands. I love animals (even human ones), fishing, alpine climbing, hiking, and exploring new cities. I also enjoy a variety of music – hip-hop and bluegrass are my two faves.
