Summer Transition Enrichment Program (STEP)

The STEP Program is designed for first time college students. This short program helps students prepare for success and make new friends at Mt. SAC by taking a 2-week Counseling 1-Introduction to College class. Want to know more? Take the first step by letting us know that you are interested. The STEP program does not require an application. Just click on the "Yes, I'm Interested" button below, answer some quick questions, and submit the form. We will keep in contact with you to make sure you complete all steps and are ready for the Counseling 1 class this Summer.

We will be offering two sessions this summer.  In-person, hybrid (online and in-person) & online classes as well as morning, noon and evening classes available per session. Please see session dates below. 

Session 1: June 20 - July 3
Session 2: July 15 - 25

Attention Future STEP Students!

We're here for you and committed to helping you start college on the right foot. As a STEP student, you will be eligible for Promise+Plus benefits (check it out below). Once enrolled in the STEP Counseling 1-Introduction to College class for the summer, we will do the rest and check your eligibility. Steps to Enroll in the 2024 Summer STEP Program

        Apply for FAFSA/CA DREAM ACT:

        Step 3: Claim & Activate your Mt. SAC Account

        • Go to https://inside.mtsac.edu/
        • Click on 1st time users (claim account) 
        • Admissions & Records will send you instructions on activating your account
      • number 4Complete Assessment Questionnaire & New Student Orientation

        Step 4: Take the Assessment Questionnaire (AQ) and Complete New Student Orientation

        • Go to mtsac.edu/assessment/aq to fill out the assessment questionnaire; have your high school transcripts ready
        • The assessment center also gives hands-on assistance in building 9B on the first floor (currently closed due to COVID-19).
          Complete the online orientation by doing the following:
        • Log into your student portal
        • Click on the "Student Success" tab
        • Under "New Student Registration Checklist," click on "Step One"
        • Click on "Complete Mandatory Online Orientation"

        Visit Assessment

      • number 5Check Your Registration Appointment
        Summer registration begins March 25, 2024. If you have submitted your Summer 2024 application and completed all steps, your registration appointment should be posted to your portal by March 8, 2024. First, log into your Mt. SAC portal. In the center under Student Self-Service,  click on #8 Registration Appointment/Hold. When the registration term drop down menu appears, choose Summer 2023 and click submit. Registration begin/end date and time will appear on the next screen.
