PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Darlene's desire to work with animals began at an early age, but was not realized until she was older and decided to learn the fine art of grooming. As time progressed —and the numbers of cats and dogs she owned grew—she became an animal groomer. Finally, she was fortunate enough to realize her passion of owning horses and over the years she's bred, foaled, and raised many foals. Some of the horses have gone on to become hunter jumpers, sorting stock, and pleasure horses. It was this love of horses that prompted her veterinarian to suggest that she become a veterinary technician, which she did.

Over the course of 10 years, Darlene received two Associate's degrees from Mt. SAC, and in 2002 she began a career here as an R.V.T. for the Registered Veterinary Technology department of the Natural Sciences Division. She enjoys sharing her experiences and love of animals with others who share in that passion. Believing that one must stay abreast of the ever-changing medical field, Darlene continues to work in an animal hospital, and also grooms one day a week to keep up her skills.
