Attention New Students for Summer and Fall 2018

Beginning April 2, 2018, assessment will consist of a questionnaire related to your high school performance.  Most students will receive their placement based on their answers on the Assessment Questionnaire (AQ) pertaining to High School GPA, English and math courses taken in high school, and grades in those courses.  The AQ will take about 15 minutes to complete and in most cases will provide immediate placement results in English and math!
At this point, you have 2 options:
  • You can make an appointment for placement testing and take your tests now, or
  • You can wait until April 2 (or later) and be assessed with the assessed with the AQ.
If you choose to wait until April 2 to complete your assessment, come to the Assessment Center for assistance with completing the questionnaire or go to to complete it on your own.  If possible, have a copy of your high school transcripts with you when completing the questionnaire to assure accuracy.

Students attending Mt. San Antonio College are required to participate in assessment. The assessment and placement process has been established to enable all students an opportunity to be successful in their course work. In addition, the process allows the faculty to provide instruction at an appropriate level with the knowledge that students will be reasonably prepared.

You must do the following prior to taking the placement test:
    1. Make an appointment to take the placement test
Please Note:
•  Test results/scores are valid for two years.
•  Students may retest after three months.
•  After assessment, your next step in the enrollment process is to contact Counseling and make an appointment to    attend an orientation.
Students with disabilities who may need special accommodations to take the placement test should make arrangements with the Accessibility Resource Centers for Students.
