PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Jamie Phillips grew up on a swine & cattle ranch in Maui, Hawaii. It was on her family farm where she gained all of her hands-on, practical experience with farm animals. Jamie participated in 4-H from the age of 9 until she was 18. She has always had a tremendous love for working with animals. She knew that animals were her passion, and therefore she pursued a career which allowed her to do what she loved.
In the summer of 2001, she moved away from the islands to attend California Polytechnic University. Here she received her bachelor's in Animal Science, with a minor in Agricultural Business. Soon after graduating, she decided to pursue her masters in Agricultural Education. Jamie wanted to not only work with animals, but she wanted to educate people about the animals she loved.
Jamie was fortunate enough to receive her first full-time teaching job here at Mt. SAC. She is now teaching Animal Science classes full time. She is responsible for the Beef Unit & involved with the Livestock Show Team & Judging Team. She is extremely excited to be part of such a strong program & she can't wait to help it develop even further.
